Dear Parents and friends,
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. 2008 promises to be another busy year at St Anne’s, with refurbishment of the Nursery, hopefully, in the spring. I would also like to thank everyone who sent me Get Well cards after my recent operation on my shoulder. The healing process has been slower than expected, but I will be back in school this week.

Welcome Back
Mrs Thompson has returned to St Anne’s after her maternity leave, and will be teaching in Year Three for four days a week. On Fridays Mr.Hogan will teach class 3T.

Best Attendance
The class with the best attendance for December was Mrs.Fleming’s with 96.7%
The average attendance throughout the school for December was 92.8%

Cycle Proficiency
This initiative was a great success last term with all children who took part passing their test. They were presented with their certificates and badges at the last House assembly in December. This term Year Five will have the opportunity to learn how to ride their bicycles more safely.

Swimming
Year Five will be going swimming at Broadgreen High School, starting with Mr Lineton’s class during the first half term. All the children require a suitable swimming kit for safety reasons. Girls need a one piece swimsuit, and the boys need swim trunks (not long shorts). All children require a bathing cap.

After School Clubs
Children who take part in after school activities will be notified by the teachers when these clubs will start again in the Spring Term.

Dates to note for January:
Thursday 10th January Epiphany Service in the Metropolitan Cathedral
Friday 25th January Family Assembly Class 3B
Friday 8th February. Family Assembly Class 3T
Wednesday 6th February Eucharist Service Year 6

Future Notices:
School closes for half term on Friday 8th February and re-opens on Monday 18th February.
School closes for Easter on Friday 14th March and re-opens on Monday 31st March.

SAT’s for Year Six will take place in the week starting 12th May.
(All Junior classes will be doing “SAT’s tests” during the same week in May, although their results are unpublished.)

Year Two will be completing their SAT’s in the weeks during May. It is vitally important that all children attend school during these weeks and in the weeks leading up to SAT’s week.

Thank you all for your very welcome support. I look forward to meeting with you on the playground or at special events during the term.

Yours sincerely
P.A. Bolger Headteacher
